Open Road H-D customer Joe Putzer's summer plans are simple:
"Riding my Iron 883 as much as possible."
Joe has already put a some serious miles -- in the first two weeks of owning his bike, he rode every day. We love that spirit!
So, what's Joe's story?
"I travel a lot for fun and much of the time that travel is by bicycle. Last summer I rode my bicycle fully loaded with 40 lbs of my camping gear from Anacortes, WA to Glacier National Park in Montana... just shy of 1000 miles. Near Libby, Montana while cycling along a paved, but very rural forest road, I saw a motorcyclist coming my way. He gave me a friendly wave as he passed by and I thought how much fun it would be to have similar adventures on a motorcycle.
That thought simmered for another few weeks. During July 4th weekend last year, I bicycled with a friend from Madison to Galena, IL. While there, I gawked at every motorcycle and started to think about what types I would like ride. Harley-Davidsons really appealed to me. When I got home, I started to research what would fit me The Iron 883 fit my needs as new rider and I fell in love the style."
"Open Road listens to you. I knew what I wanted and at no time did Open Road stray from that. It was the fist time I bought any type of vehicle where it felt more like my needs as a customer were at the forefront. No tricks, no "I need to go ask my manager" games. Just honest sales."
Joe certainly didn't waste any time finding his bike... and he's been hitting the pavement ever since! Living near the driftless region, he looks forward to taking on the twisty, hilly terrain near Dodgeville, Mineral Point, and New Glarus. Joe also plans to head back down to Galena where he found his passion for the Harley-Davidson brand. He's also got big plans to add a touring seat, windshield, and saddlebags and take his bike camping along Lake Superior. For Joe, it's all about wanderlust and the spirit of the open road.
"Buying my Harley is an extension of my need for adventure. My only disappointment is that I waited this long to start riding. I have a lot of riding on the open road to do to make up for it."
What's next? Joe says it's only a matter of time before he "upgrades" to a Road King -- and Mighty Mike at Open Road H-D will be the first person he'll call when he's ready!
