Dear Ride for Pride Sponsors & Participants,
We would like to thank you once again for your time, generosity and support of our 22nd annual fundraising event held April 25th, 26, 2008. The weather was cold and unbearable, yet you stayed the course. Despite the inclement weather, we were still able to raise $16,000 for our selected charities. This was a huge accomplishment and it took all of us to make it a success.
Now approaching our 23rd year, we regret to inform you that there will not be a fundraising Ride for Pride for 2009 due to ride restructuring and the current economy. This fundraising event has grown and evolved with each year, and with weather playing a key role with a number of participants, we need to take the time to step back, review what works and what doesn't, listen to our participants and begin the restructuring process.
A recent survey from our Open Road Fond du Lac H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) Chapter Members concurred with the following ideas:
Changing the date
Changing event to one day
Smaller band(s) to reduce cost
Lowering the participation cost
Poker style run or a similar type of fundraiser
As you can see there is much on the table to restructure and plan for, but the key element in making this a success is "time." For that reason, we are taking this year off to elicit and make positive changes for this future of this great fundraising event.
We look forward to your ideas in our restructuring efforts and your support in the future. You may email suggestions to sales@openroadhd.com.
Respectfully submitted,
Fond du Lac Ride for Pride Board of Directors
